Ventura and Simi Valley Courts
We can expunge your criminal conviction in Ventura County by withdrawing your plea and having the case dismissed, under most circumstances. The law is somewhat complex in certain areas, but expungement is something that should be done by everyone with even a minor record.
Our Lead Attorney (25+ years experience), as well as one of his sons, did their undergraduate work in Santa Barbara, and we maintain a Ventura Office.
Contrary to popular belief, records are not expunged automatically with the passage of time, but require the filing and granting of a Petition for relief in Court.
We only do Expungement Law; Record Clearing is our only practice, not a "sideline" to a general law practice. Our fees are competitive and include all Court fees, legal work and service of the petition for expungement on all parties, as well as court appearances. You will not need to appear in Court in most cases. We may not be the 'cheapest' price, but we do things right. Be cautious of non-attorney expungement sites.
Both misdemeanor and felony convictions can usually be expunged. Once relief has been granted, you can honestly answer "no" to a question regarding criminal convictions in many circumstances.
Under certain circumstances, a felony conviction can be reduced to a misdemeanor.
Ventura County Courts are very good about granting expungement petitions, including reductions in felony cases. They are well informed on the law and the rights of petitioners.
Please give us a call to discuss your case; consultation is free. 800 495-2819.
A California criminal expungement is a legal process that petitions the Court to review a conviction to determine:
If probation was successfully completed, or, if no probation was granted, a year has passed since the conviction;
That all fines, restitution and reimbursement ordered by the court has been paid;
That the petitioner is not now on probation for another offense;
That the petitioner has no new pending cases;
The Court then allows the petitioner to withdraw their plea or finding of guilt, enter a new "not guilty" plea, and orders the case dismissed. You will receive a copy of the Court Order when your case is complete.
