RECORD-CLEAR.COM - Diversion Record Sealing
California Law Usually Allows You to Seal Your
Diversion [1000 PC] or 'DEJ' Records
Many first offenders
are granted 'Diversion' (1000 PC) or drug cases, or Deferred Entry
of Judgment ('DEJ') in shoplifting or similar cases. Although a
conviction does not occur, the RECORD of the Court proceeding still
is available to the pubic and can appear on a background check.
Our skilled Attorneys can seal your criminal
Diversion Records under most circumstances. The law is somewhat
complex in certain areas, but expungement is something that
SHOULD be done by everyone with even a minor record.
Contrary to popular belief, Diversion records
are not sealed automatically with the passage of time, but require
the filing and granting of a Petition for relief in Court.
Both misdemeanor and felony Records can usually
be sealed.
We have successfully sealed a large number of
Diversion records. The procedure can take from 6 weeks to several
months, depending upon the Court, the complexity of the case, and
how old the conviction is.
Fees are reasonable, and include the petitions,
court appearances, filing fees and research.
Please be aware that while all cases cannot
be sealed, most can be; there are some limitations on the relief a
sealing can grant in certain cases.
